7 Important steps in an Auto Accident without an attorney

1)  Get a copy of the accident report from the police department especially if a traffic citation was issued.

2)  Take photographs of the damage to your car.

3)  Take photographs of any bodily injuries.  Place a ruler next to the injuries to show the length of the contusions or abrasions.  Have at least one photograph of the injured party holding the front page of a current newspaper to prove the date.

4)  Photograph the scene of the accident, including skid marks, signs or objects that may not be visible to the motorist.

5)  Investigate the identity any witnesses.

6)  Obtain statements from all witness that support your case.

7)  If a traffic citation was issued, ask the court if the other party contested or accepted the citation and paid the fine. 

If the cited party should challenge the traffic complaint then you should attend the hearing and find out what is said under oath or if they bring witnesses.
